Documentation / Knowledge Base
Knowledge Base
Upload documents that your voice agent can reference during live conversations.
The Knowledge Base lets your voice agents retrieve relevant information from uploaded documents during conversations.
How it works
- Upload a PDF, DOCX, TXT, or JSON document.
- Tigy AI splits and indexes the document into searchable chunks.
- Attach the processed document to your agent in Knowledge base, under the Knowledge tab.
- During a call, the agent retrieves relevant chunks to answer the caller.
Supported file types
| Format | Extension |
|---|---|
.pdf | |
| Word | .docx, .doc |
| Text | .txt |
| JSON | .json |
| Markdown | .md |
Maximum file size: 5 MB.
Upload and attach documents
- Open Knowledge base in the dashboard.
- Click Upload document. In the upload dialog, click Choose file or drag and drop a file.
- Click Upload and process and wait for the Completed status. Tigy AI automatically chunks and indexes the document.
- Open the prompt agent editor and, under the Knowledge tab, select the document in Knowledge base, in the Agent sources section.
- Save the agent changes.
The agent searches only the documents attached to the agent. Attach focused, relevant documents to improve retrieval quality.
Best practices
- Keep documents focused on a single topic.
- Use clear headings, lists, and short paragraphs.
- Keep source documents up to date.
- Attach only the documents relevant to the agent's tasks.
Verify processing
The file must finish processing before use. Check its list status and select it in the agent settings. Uploading to the workspace and attaching to the agent are different actions.
Test a question explicitly answered by the document, one requiring another passage, and one not covered by it. Verify that the agent explains when it cannot find an answer rather than inventing one.
Update content
When source information changes, upload the updated version and review agent attachments. Avoid selecting contradictory documents for the same agent. Retest a question affected by the update.
When an answer is missing
| Check | Next step |
|---|---|
| Incomplete or failed processing | Inspect upload status and error message |
| Document not selected | Attach it to the agent answering the question |
| Answer absent from file | Add it to the source document |
| Ambiguous/conflicting content | Simplify the content and remove outdated versions from selection |
